Yesterday we were headed into the city. Not our favorite thing to do, but it was going to be worth it. We were headed to a major annual craft fair. We were stuck hopelessly in traffic and musing about how much later we were going to be arriving than what we had planned.
Suddenly, we heard a loud POP and steam began emerging from the hood of our little car. We limped the car over to the shoulder and pushed it up onto the grass. Opening the hood we quickly discovered that one of our radiator hoses had exploded. (seriously, it was in two pieces) Hopes for the day were dashed as my sons and I gazed at the carnage.
Then my husband appeared like a knight in shining armor!! He held in his hands a brand new hose that perfectly fit in the space the destroyed hose was currently occupying. In less than five minutes the old hose (still to hot to touch for more than a second or two) was removed and the new one was snugly attached. A few moments more and we were back on the road and the traffic jam wasn't even there any more!
It turns out that my brilliant hubby has kept a full set of spare hoses in the rear wheel well for a long time. His only concern was that he wasn't certain whether or not he had removed them in a recent car cleaning.
It pays to be prepared! It makes you feel like this . . .
