Laundry has always been an issue for us. Back in our earliest days we simply didn't do it, even though we had a conveniently located washing machine. (You remember that, Mom.) When we rejected modern conveniences, we went through a variety of hand washing methods, mixed with occasional bouts of going to the laundromat. Eventually we bought another washing machine, a wonderful front loader that was quite efficient with water. However, not having running water, feeding it even the little bit it required could be challenging. Also it did not like the electricity that came through the inverter for our solar electric system. So, after many computer panel repairs, we gave up and sold it. It was back to the laundromat once again!

Yahoo weather is telling me that the temperature in my tiny town is going to rise up into the hundreds this weekend. This is powerful news to a little family that lives without air conditioning or even a fan. This morning it was impossible to believe since it was so chilly when we woke that I put on a sweatshirt and sweatpants. Now it's past noon, though, and the sun has moved out of the woods and into the middle of the sky. I'm feeling the first serious warmth sink into my bones. Am I worried?

Our trees arrived yesterday afternoon, so, since today was rainy, we did a lot of research to be sure we knew exactly where and how to properly plant these new babies. We have: walnuts, pecans, filberts and chestnuts. For fruit we have: apples, plums, blueberries, and one pomegranate. So there are many different planting situations called for. Tomorrow the weather should clear,
